Time Out
Posted on 03/10/2009 06:24 pm by paulinehorThis page is a list of creative things I do to ‘time out’ with the Lord!
1. Take a walk and pray as I do, about my daily concerns.
2. Meet up with a spiritual friend to pray and open the bible together.
3. Download and listen to some awesome talks based on the Holy Scriptures. The Reformission website has links by reformed preachers on mp3.
4. Plan a yearly short break specifically to spend time reading God’s word.
5. Find a new Christian to do one-on-one follow up with. I use ‘Just for Starters‘ as a guide.
6. Go over the Gospels again at my favourite place eg. cafe or park.
7. Commit myself to a youth or children’s ministry like Sunday School. It’s a good way to learn and teach the bible at the same time.
8. As a young a mum, I attended a Christian run playgroup or Mother’s group with the aim to reaching out to others.
9. Invest time meeting up with someone from church whom I don’t know very well or have difficulty relating to. Living out the love of God. St. Francis said, “Seek not to be understood but to understand.”
10. Attend a class at a bible college where the teaching is reformed and biblical. Some good colleges in Sydney where I have studied before are SMBC, PTC and MTC.
11. Read the Confessions of St. Augustine or Mere Christianity or any other classic reformed books. Feed my soul and learn from the great teachers of the past.
12. Seek out a friend who does not yet know Jesus personally. Pray constantly for that person. Actively seek out to share the good news to them. Prepare myself so I can be ready to answer them so they may see the hope that I have is real.
13. Find a Christian peer to do one-on-one with. I use the current articles from ‘The Briefing‘ or ‘The Australian Presbyterian Magazine’ as a discussion point and to share and pray together. Iron sharpens iron.
